6 All-Time Favorite Classic Movies

Classic movies are the backbone of the movie industry, so it makes sense that they’re also some of our favorites. Classic movies have been around for so long that they’ve become ingrained in our culture and language, but there are plenty of reasons why these 6 classic films should be at the top of everyone’s must-watch list:

1. Annie Hall

A film that’s been called the first Woody Allen movie, Annie Hall is also his biggest hit. It won him three Academy Awards and made him a household name overnight. Diane Keaton, who plays Alvy Singer’s (Woody Allen) love interest, was nominated for an Oscar as well and became one of the biggest stars of her generation after this movie was released.

The movie takes place on Coney Island over the course of one day, so there are some great shots of the iconic New York amusement park in it-and it even features footage from the roller coaster! Annie Hall is considered by many critics to be one of Woody Allen’s best works because he manages to write about serious topics like relationships while also making them funny enough for everyone to enjoy.

2. Casablanca

The classic 1942 film stars Humphrey Bogart as a cynical American expatriate who helps his former lover (Ingrid Bergman) escape from the Nazis. The movie was a romantic drama that won three Academy Awards and is widely considered one of the greatest films ever made.

3. It Happened One Night

This is a 1934 film starring Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert. The movie won five Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director for Frank Capra. It’s based on Samuel Hopkins Adams’ short story “Night Bus,” which was published in 1916 as part of a series called “The Experiences of Walter Mitty.” The story follows an heiress who falls in love with a news reporter while fleeing her father-who thinks he can force her to marry his friend.

4. Gone with the Wind

This movie is set during the American Civil War, and it stars Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable. It won 8 Oscars at the 1940 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress for Vivien Leigh in her role as Scarlett O’Hara. The original budget was $3 million USD; when adjusted for inflation, it cost around $4 million to make!

5. Singin’ in the Rain

I mean, who doesn’t want to watch Gene Kelly dance up a storm in this classic musical? It’s a must-see! The film-based on the 1952 Broadway musical of the same name-follows Don Lockwood (Kelly), a silent film star who is forced to adapt to talkies. His costar Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen) gets by with her acting abilities, but her voice is so terrible that it ruins shots. In the end, they both learn how important teamwork is and become closer friends than ever before.

The movie has an outstanding soundtrack with songs such as “Make ‘Em Laugh,” “Singin’ in the Rain,” and “Good Morning.” The movie won an Oscar for Best Music Scoring of a Musical Picture due to its catchy tunes that are sure to have you singing along!

6. The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz is a classic tale of good versus evil, but it’s also one of the most entertaining movies ever made. This 1939 movie was based on L. Frank Baum’s children’s book, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The film stars Judy Garland who plays Dorothy Gale, who accidentally transports herself to the land of Oz via a tornado. She meets up with her old dog Toto, played by Terry; Scarecrow (Ray Bolger), Tin Man (Jack Haley), and Cowardly Lion (Bert Lahr), all characters from Baum’s book; as well as Glinda the Good Witch (Margaret Hamilton).

The Wizard himself is portrayed by Frank Morgan as an old man who knows everything about everyone in Oz but isn’t quite sure what he looks like anymore because he hasn’t seen himself in years when his mirror broke after his wife died so no one can see their reflection anymore except through looking into water or using magic spells such as those used by Glinda when she shows Dorothy how beautiful she really is despite having little confidence due to being bullied at home before they were transported here!

There you have it-6 classic movies that are sure to delight and inspire. While there are many more, this list should serve as a great starting point for anyone who wants to watch some good old-fashioned filmmaking. We hope you enjoy these films as much as we did!
